‘DWTS’ Predictions: Which Season 27 Pair Will Be Eliminated In Week 1?
The competition has officially begun on Season 27 of “Dancing with the Stars,” but one team will be forced to hang up their dancing shoes and say goodbye to the competition at the end of the two-night premiere event.
The second night of competition is set for the 13 teams aiming to win a Mirrorball Trophy, and after night one’s performances, some pairs seem more likely than others to not only make it through the first week but to even be contenders in the finals. With Tinashe and Brandon Armstrong tying at the top of the leaderboard with DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold, with Juan Pablo di Pace and Cheryl Burke just one point below them, all three teams seem safe. However, three other teams have fates that seem less certain going into the second night of competition.
While scores for tonight’s performances will be factored in with the judge’s scores and votes from night one, and live voting for viewers will be available for approximately five minutes prior to the eliminated couple being revealed, there are definite signs which seem to suggest one of three couples, in particular, is set to go home after just two dances.
Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson, a.k.a TeamCHECKusOUT, finished night one on the bottom of the judge’s leaderboard, scoring only a 14/30 for their Quickstep. The pair is set to perform a second Quickstep tonight, but barring a marked improvement in the “Bachelor in Paradise” star’s footwork, things aren’t looking good for them. However, because he has just come off of a successful run on his previous reality franchise and may have a strong fan base, he could still have a shot at evading elimination in the first week.
Also not faring well with the judges was comedian Nikki Glaser and partner Gleb Savchenko, who only scored 17 points for their Salsa routine. Though their scores were somewhat better than the one Joe and Jenna received, they don’t have as much of an advantage when it comes to a built-in fanbase. While Amabile boasts over 700,000 followers on Instagram, Glaser only has 167,000. If his followers and fans all voted for him, it gives him a distinct edge when it comes to making it past week one.
Of course, one other couple could even be the first ones sent home, even with better scores. John Schneider and Emma Slater wound up in a four-way tie in the middle of the judge’s leaderboard with 18 points for their Foxtrot, but being in the middle doesn’t mean they’re safe. In fact, according to betting odds, the pair is the least likely to win the Mirrorball at all, which could be a sign they will be eliminated first as well.
“Dancing With the Stars” airs part 2 of its premiere night special tonight at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
