‘DWTS’ Predictions: Which Season 29 Pair Will Be Eliminated On 80s Night?
It may not be quite as chaotic as the elimination that took place during Week 4, but “80s Night” on “Dancing With the Stars” will force another team to hang up their dancing shoes and say goodbye to the competition.
The fifth week of the competition will bring the first-ever “80s Night” theme to the ABC competition series, but all the fun of big hair, bright costumes and rock music will come to a screeching halt at the end of the night when one team is eliminated. Unfortunately, as for the remaining 12 pairs, some are more likely than others to be at risk.
While the teams of front-runners Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten, and Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev seem to have guaranteed spots in Week 6, “80s Night” could prove decisive for three of the teams.
Though Nelly had what Carrie Ann Inaba called a breakthrough during Week 4, things still aren’t looking the best for him and his pro partner, Daniella Karagach (#TeamDaNelly). While the pair still has a good fanbase rooting for them, Nelly's improvement in scores is still small when compared to that of his fellow competitors. In Week 4, the pair landed on the bottom rung of the judges’ scoreboard, along with Jeannie and Brandon and the newly eliminated Anne and Keo. Although her scores fell behind this past week, Jeannie still has a better average score. For the same reason, if she and Nelly ends up in the Bottom Two, she will have a better chance at the Judges’ Save.
Jese Metcalfe and returning pro Sharna Burgess (#TeamAllIn) are also at potential risk for elimination. Like Jeannie and Nelly, they finished at the bottom in Week 3, and he hasn’t really broken out yet—something for which he was severely criticized by the judges. With other teams really starting to shine and potentially growing bigger fanbases as a result, he could find himself out of the competition quicker than he thought.
However, despite the improvement, the team most likely to be going home could be Monica Aldama and Val Chmerkovskiy (#TeamValdama). Despite all the confusion about who really was in the Bottom Two, they did end up there in Week 4—and thus far in the competition, landing in that place has not been a good sign, as they have landed there for a second time in the following week and were not saved by the judges. While they could potentially have a chance if someone like Jeannie or Jesse, who still struggle with scores, lands there, the “Cheer” coach may be headed back to Navarro College without another championship under her belt.
“Dancing With the Stars” air Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
