‘DWTS' Spoilers: Which Team Will Be Eliminated During Semi-Finals?
Sean Spicer may officially be out of the “Dancing With the Stars” competition now, but that will make it even more difficult for the five Season 28 teams that are fighting for a place in the finals, since one of them won’t make it to the last round of competition and will see their dreams of the Mirrorball Trophy come up short.
Following the former White House Press Secretary’s ouster, it left only teams that have all generally performed well left to dance it out on the ABC show. And while usually, one team may seem like a certain front-runner at this point, this season has proven multiple times over that it could be anyone’s Mirrorball to take, as this might be one of the most closely matched final rounds in years.
At this point, no one should be considered a shoo-in or certainly safe, because scores continue to fluctuate—as does the favor a team curries with the fans. Still of the five, a few seem more likely to be at risk of the dreaded Bottom Two—and the gut-wrenching elimination.
Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson, a.k.a #TeamDanceWitKel, have been improving quite a bit in recent weeks, even scoring a perfect 40 on their second routine during Week 9. However, with the competition so tight, they could be at risk of elimination. While Ally and Sasha and James and Emma are the only other teams to have received a perfect score on one of their routines, the scores will only take teams so far now. Unlike James or even Hannah, Kel has been in the Bottom before as well. If his fan base isn’t quite as strong as his competitors now (and it may not be), he could find himself coming up short of the finals.
Someone else who could be at risk is Hannah Brown, who, with partner Alan Bersten, has been redeeming herself with the judges in recent weeks. However, like anyone else, scores may not be enough to stay in the competition any longer. She likely will see her massive fan base turn up for her still (“Bachelor” nation may be the strongest group left), which could keep her from being in the Bottom Two. But, while the scores may not be making as much of a difference anymore, even one off dance—of which she’s had plenty—could spell disaster.
However, the team that seems most likely to be saying goodbye is likely Lauren Alaine and Gleb Savchenko. The country singer has had some impressive scores at times but mainly stayed near the middle of the pack throughout the competition. Among the remaining teams, she has the lowest average scores as well, which could be a big hindrance, especially if the fan bases of some of the stronger competitors turn up to vote.
“Dancing With the Stars” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
