Eagles Move Jalen Reagor To Vikings After Revealing Initial Roster
KEY POINTS
- The Eagles have decided to ship Jalen Reagor to the Vikings
- Reagor is expected to be less pressured as he tries to restart his career in Minnesota
- The Vikings have multiple wide receivers who could lift the load off Reagor's shoulders
Jalen Reagor will be moving to a new team following reports that the former first-round pick has been traded to the Minnesota Vikings.
After being selected 21st in the 2020 NFL Draft, the 23-year-old wide receiver failed to win the admiration of the Eagles fans.
Now, he hopes to get a fresh lease with the move to Minnesota.
Reagor struggled in his rookie season, managing to catch just 31 of 54 targets in 11 games.
Moreover, he missed five games due to a torn ligament in his thumb.
In 2021, the Texas native had the chance to get back on track. But the arrival of DeVonta Smith made it difficult for him to do so.
When he was called to take the field, Reagor muffed two punts and lost one of them in a wild-card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers per NFL.com.
Philadelphia gets a 2023 seventh-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-rounder in return as part of the deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported.
Furthermore, the 2024 pick will become a fifth-round choice if certain statistical marks are not met.
The exit of Reagor is not expected to hurt the Eagles that much. A.J. Brown and Quez Watkins are around to make sure of that.
Reagor was part of the initial 53-man roster of the Eagles.
The trade may come as a surprise as well with general manager Howie Roseman stating that he felt that the aforementioned player deserves a spot on the NFL team.
With Minnesota, the pressure on Reagor will be eased a bit as he could work well with the team's quarterbacks such as Kirk Cousins and Nick Mullens.
The Vikings already have a steady duo in the persons of Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen at the receiving end. K.J. Osborn is also around alongside Jalen Nailor.
Reagor finds himself in good company, a better scenario than what he had with the Eagles.
Despite being a former first-round pick that failed to live up to expectations, the Eagles could try again with the future picks they got in the Reagor deal.
