Earnings Buzz: Netflix Inc (NFLX), DuPont (DD), United Parcel Service Inc (UPS), Travelers Cos (TVR) [VIDEO]
E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. (NYSE: DD) reported a drop in second-quarter earnings on Tuesday. Despite the fall in quarterly profit, the chemical maker said it was looking to sell or spin off its performance chemicals unit. Shares rose 4.09 percent to $59.51 in morning trade.
Travelers Cos. (NYSE: TVR) posted an 85 percent rise in quarterly profit, but the stock fell 2.68 percent to $83.13 per share.
Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) shares fell more than 3.61 percent to $252.37, a day after the company reported second-quarter earnings of 49 cents per share on revenue of $1.07 billion revenue, compared with expectations of 40 cents per share on revenue of $1.07 billion, according to economists polled by Reuters.
United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE: UPS) posted a smaller quarterly profit for the second quarter as the company said it earned $1.07 billion, or $1.13 per share, down from $1.12 billion, or $1.15 per share, a year earlier. UPS is trading down 0.51 percent to $87.16 per share.
After the bell Tuesday, Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) and AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) report results.
Apple Inc. is forecast to report third-quarter earnings of $7.30 per share on revenue of $35.09 billion, compared with a profit of $9.32 per share on revenue of $35.02 billion in the year-ago period, according to analysts polled by Reuters.
AT&T Inc. is estimated to book second-quarter earnings of 69 cents per share on revenue of $31.82 billion, compared with a profit of 66 cents per share on revenue of $31.58 billion in the year-ago period.
