Beating expectations, Priceline.com Inc. (NASDAQ:PCLN) reported second-quarter earnings of $9.70 per share after the market closed Thursday, compared with $7.85 a share in the year-ago period. Revenue rose 26 percent to $1.68 billion from $1.33 billion a year ago.

Wall Street had expected the online travel website to report earnings of $9.36 per share on $1.66 billion in revenue, according to analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.

Shares of Priceline.com jumped 5.44 percent to $984.50 in after-hours trade.

Also after market close, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (NYSE:LGF) reported fiscal first-quarter profit of $13.6 million, or 10 cents a share, compared with a year-earlier loss of $44.2 million, or 33 cents a share. Revenue rose to $569.7 million. Analysts polled by Reuters were forecasting EPS of 8 cents on revenue of $523 million.

Shares of Lions Gate Entertainment rose 1.96 percent to $34.90 in extended-hours trade.

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) said Thursday net income fell to $96.4 million, or 16 cents per share in the second quarter, compared with earnings of 19 cents per share on revenue of $1.04 billion in the year-ago quarter.

The chipmaker was forecast to report second quarter earnings of 12 cents per share on revenue of $976.35 million, according to analysts polled by Reuters.

Shares of NVIDIA fell 0.34 percent to $14.65 after the bell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 27.65 points, or 0.18 percent, to close at 15,498.32. The S&P 500 Index was up 6.57 points, or 0.39 percent, to finish at 1,697.48. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 15.12 points, or 0.41 percent, to end at 3,669.12.
