Earth Hour’s supermodel ambassador Miranda Kerr reaches out to her Myspace audience
As the world joins in the fight against climate change today, during the Earth Hour 2011, US-based Australian model and global ambassador of 2011 Earth Hour Miranda Kerr reaches out to her Myspace audiences through a unique program called Hijack.
The new program is designed to provide celebrity 'influencers' with control of the entire site to activate the entire global Myspace audience around one singular event. It will offer users around the world access to exclusive content and creative programming curated by the celebrities, musicians, television and film personalities who they love most.
The supermodel will be curating all the content on her Myspace homepage, including her favourite music, fashion and several playlists featuring past and present Earth Hour ambassadors and supporters including; Temper Trap, Tom Jones, Nelly Furtado, Alanis Morissette and Coldplay.
As the global ambassador for Earth Hour this year I'm excited to be in a position to reach out to the Myspace audience for such an important cause. It will be fun to share the things I love with such a huge global community as well as this year encouraging as many people as possible to go 'beyond the hour' and adopt even more sustainability practices in their everyday lives, stated Kerr in a recent release.
Through the program, Kerr aims to reach out to followers across the world to take Earth Hour 'Beyond the Hour' this year.
Simple things like unplugging appliances when not in use, turning lights off and using candles instead, buying products packaged in recyclable material are all ways in which we can reduce the impact on our planet. Little things we do as a community or as individuals make a difference, said Kerr.
With over 120 countries and 50 million individuals across the world participating every year, the Earth Hour is regarded as one of the biggest global initiative undertaken to prevent the degradation of the earth's natural environment.
Joining Miranda for the Earth Hour initiative will be other present and previous ambassadors like Brazilian supermodel Giselle Bundchen, singer Tom Jones, Coldplay's Chris Martin, Chinese Actress Li Bingbing and actress Cate Blanchett.
