Eddie Kaye Thomas, Finch In 'American Pie,' Calls Police After Being Threatened By Knife-Wielding Woman
“American Pie” actor Eddie Kaye Thomas was forced to call the Los Angeles Police Department on Wednesday, when he was attacked by a knife-wielding woman.
A Los Angeles Police Department SWAT team responded to Thomas’ call after a female acquaintance pulled out a knife and barricaded herself in the actor’s Hollywood Hills home, the Los Angeles Times reports. According to LAPD Lt. Andrew Neiman, the incident occurred around 1 p.m.
Thomas, 32, had met the unidentified woman at Mel’s Diner in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. The woman spent the night at Thomas’ house, but refused to leave the next morning, prompting an argument.
Upon arrival, the SWAT team engaged in a standoff with the woman, which reportedly extended for several hours. Eventually, the police used tear gas to force the woman out of Thomas’ house, but not before she had caused extensive damage to his property.
After a brief stay at a local hospital, the assailant was booked and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism, TMZ reports.
Actress Minnie Driver, who lives next door to Thomas, shared a first-hand account of the incident with her Twitter followers.
"Armed man has barricaded himself into the house just below mine. Swarming police. My dog is on high alert. #noescape," Driver tweeted.
"It's not an armed man, it's a disgruntled woman. Disgruntled is probably the wrong word..just had five rounds of [tear gas] explosions,” she added.
Thomas is best known for playing Paul Finch in the popular “American Pie” film series.
