Eddie Redmayne might be the star of the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, but his children are reportedly unimpressed by real-life wizarding skills.

The 40-year-old actor, who plays the role of Newt Scamander in the films, shares two kids -- Luke, 4, and Iris, 5 -- with his wife Hannah Bagshawe.

"There was a moment this year where I felt like as a dad, who played a wizard, I could try and get some brownie points," Redmayne said on the "Live With Kelly and Ryan" show Wednesday. "I gave Iris, my daughter, Newt’s wand. Which I thought was pretty exciting, and she’s like ‘Okay, thanks Dad.'"

Redmayne continued to explain how his daughter covered the wand in tinfoil, made a little star, and then she called it a wand.

"I came back an hour later and she covered the thing in tinfoil," he recalled. "She’d made a little star and made a fairy wand. And she’s like, ‘Now this is a wand,’ [That] slightly undermined my brownie points."

The actor went on to share the "moral dilemma" he faced about telling the truth to his kids.

"You have that sort of moral dilemma, like do I lie to my child? I find myself stuck in the middle and he’s like, ‘No, you’re either a wizard or you’re not,’ So I said ‘Yeah I am a wizard’ and I did some sort of trick with a coin," Redmayne said. "The one magic trick I could do."

Redmayne further noted the coin trick didn't work on his son as he was expecting his father to do something he saw in the movie's trailer.

"And he’s like, ‘That’s not the kind of stuff you can do in the [Fantastic Beasts] trailer. In the trailer, you can make stuff explode,'" he added. "So I think he told his friends at school and they asked me to do some of the stuff in the trailer and it was a bit of a letdown."

"Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore" is the third installment of the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise. It is slated to release on April 14 in theaters. The upcoming flick is helmed by director David Yates, who is known for directing the last four "Harry Potter" films.
