Eddie Redmayne’s Wife Hannah Gives Birth To Baby Girl: What’s Her Name?
Eddie Redmayne gets to celebrate his first Father’s Day Sunday. He and his wife Hannah Redmayne (née Bagshawe) welcomed a baby girl Wednesday.
Eddie and Hannah appeared to dodge the wacky celebrity baby name trend. The “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” star and the public relations executive stuck to fairly common monikers. Their daughter is called Iris Mary Redmayne.
The two also skipped the typical celebrity fanfare with their birth announcement. There wasn’t an announcement via a magazine photo shoot or a press release. Instead, the parents first put a birth announcement in the Times in the U.K. Saturday, People reported. The couple did the same for their engagement in 2014. The Academy Award winner and his wife seem to want to keep things simple, from birth announcements to toys. Eddie revealed he hoped to entertain his children with old-fashioned trinkets. “We have this sort of dream of, like, wooden toys, and all that, and everyone’s like, ‘Yeah, you always start off like that, but you end up with, like, iPhones!’” he told E Online with a laugh in January, shortly after announcing Hannah’s pregnancy.
The couple didn’t know they were having a girl, although it wasn’t Eddie who made that decision. “I’m going to be honest. I was like, ‘Maybe we should find out,’” the actor told Extra in February. “My wife’s like, ‘We’re not finding out.’ She wears the trousers. It’s one of the great surprises that still exists in the world.”
Iris is the first child for both Eddie and Hannah. The two married in December 2014 after three years of dating.
