Edward Brooke awarded highest honor in Congress (PHOTOS)
Edward Brooke, 90, the first African American person to be elected to the Senate, was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor of the Congress.
President Barack Obama honored Senator Brooke on Wednesday in a ceremony on Capitol Hill by saying he is a man who's spent his life breaking barriers and bridging divides across this country.
