KEY POINTS

  • The Warrior Jar's Shard drops by killing Iron Fist Alexander
  • Killing Alexander at Crumbling Farum Azula yields the Shard of Alexander instead
  • The talismans boost all weapon skill damage by a small amount

The Warrior Jar’s Shard in “Elden Ring” is a talisman that increases the damage dealt by weapon skills, otherwise known as Ashes of War. This item can be acquired very early into the game unless players want to get its upgraded version.

To get this talisman, players must find and kill Iron Fist Alexander, the friendly warrior jar found in Limgrave. He can be found stuck in the ground by an overlook leading to east Limgrave, near the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace in Northern Stormhill.

There’s nothing complicated to do here. Hit Alexander in the back until he pops out of the ground, then continue hitting him until he becomes hostile. Then, fight him until he shatters. He mostly fights like a normal giant warrior jar, so he shouldn’t be too hard to beat.

Killing Alexander early rewards players with the Warrior Jar’s Shard. However, continuing his storyline until one of the final areas of the game will instead give the Shard of Alexander, which is slightly stronger.

Normally, players will have to meet up with Alexander in all of his possible spawn locations. However, it seems like players will only need to talk to Alexander after the Radahn boss fight in Caelid for this story to make progress.

Alexander’s final spawn location is at Crumbling Farum Azula, past a Stonesword Imp Gate near the Dragon Temple Altar Site of Grace. Open the gate and take the lift up to the Dragon Temple Lift grace; Alexander can be found standing on a floating platform.

Exhaust his dialogue lines then beat him in honorable combat. Speak to Alexander one final time, and he will shatter, rewarding players with Alexander’s Innards and the Shard of Alexander.

The Warrior Jar’s Shard boosts all damage dealt by Ashes of War by 10%. Meanwhile, the Shard of Alexander boosts weapon skill damage by 15%.

Like the other “upgrade” talismans such as Radagon’s Soreseal, these cannot be used simultaneously.

Meanwhile, Alexander’s Innards is used as an essential item for Jar Bairn’s questline at Jarburg in Liurnia. Completing Jar Bairn’s questline and giving Alexander’s Innards will reward players with the Companion Jar talisman.
