KEY POINTS

  • Dr. Mary Trump will be one of the main speakers Tuesday at a virtual convention that's part of the ongoing virtual DNC convention in Milwaukee
  • She painted a scathing portrait of her uncle Donald as having the mind of a toddler
  • Dr. Trump has said she will vote for Democratic challenger Joe Biden in November

Dr. Mary Trump PhD, the clinical psychologist niece of President Donald Trump, will speak to Democratic donors Tuesday in a virtual convention called, “Inside Trump’s Brain: Understanding Donald Trump From Those Who Know Him Best.”

The donors-only event comes during the four-day virtual extravaganza that is the 2020 Democratic National Convention, which started Monday in Milwaukee.

Dr. Trump, who would have remained relatively unknown if not for authoring a tell-all exposé about her uncle, is against his re-election as president and has said she will vote for Democratic challenger Joe Biden in the upcoming election.

The event is being hosted by American Bridge, a pro-Biden super PAC, and Media Matters, a liberal nonprofit watchdog that investigates Trump’s right-wing allies in mass and social media. Hosting the virtual convention will be David Brock, founder of American Bridge, former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm and former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

Dr. Trump will be joined as the main speaker by fellow author Tony Schwartz, ghostwriter of the “Trump: The Art of the Deal" published in1987. Schwartz's bestselling book is credited with launching Trump's political career that culminated in his election as U.S. president in 2016.

On the other hand, Dr. Trump is the author of the New York Times bestselling book, "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man."

The book began to retail at bookstores and online July 14 and immediately became the No. 1 online bestseller on Amazon.com. After a four-week run on the New York Times bestseller list, it is now ranked the third top bestselling nonfiction print and e-book.

Dr. Trump is expected to reveal more about the psychology of her uncle, whom she said must resign as president because he's emotionally and psychologically unfit for the office. She's also expected to field uncomfortable question following the recent death of her uncle, Robert, who passed Aug. 15 in Manhattan. Robert Trump apparently died from intracerebral hemorrhaging.

Last June, Robert Trump sued to prevent the publication of Dr. Trump's book. He based his lawsuit on a 2001 confidentiality agreement Dr. Trump signed in settling a lawsuit related to the will and estate of her grandfather, Fred Trump.

In July, however, the New York Supreme Court ruled the book's publisher, Simon & Schuster, isn't a party to the 2001 NDA, and its rights to publish the book aren't restricted by that agreement. The book was published as scheduled on July 14.

In her bestseller, Dr. Trump assails her uncle’s unfitness to hold the office of president. She describes her uncle as having the mind of a toddler beset by a range of mental disorders.

Dr. Trump wrote her uncle Donald today "is much as he was at three years old: incapable of growing, learning, or evolving, unable to regulate his emotions, moderate his responses, or take in and synthesize information."
