Elizabeth Hurley's Ex Steve Bing Suffered From 'Mental Issues' Before His Suicide, Source Says
KEY POINTS
- Friends close to Steve Bing said he was suffering from bipolar disorder
- He was also depressed because of his financial problems
- Bing committed suicide after jumping off from the 27th floor of his apartment building
Steve Bing, Elizabeth Hurley’s Hollywood mogul ex, recently committed suicide after jumping from his 27th-floor apartment in Los Angeles in an apparent suicide. The 55-year-old allegedly took his own life after struggling with depression for years and experiencing financial problems after spending most of his fortune, people close to him say.
Page Six reported that the mogul infamously dropped out of school after inheriting a sizable amount, $600 million, from his real estate developer grandfather. Bing, who is the father of Hurley’s son Damian, initially denied he was the father of the child. But it was later confirmed through a DNA test that Damian was indeed his offspring.
His friends, meanwhile, mourn the death of a great person, whose life was greatly envied by many. Some of Bing’s famous friends include Ron Burkle and Bill Clinton, as well as many gorgeous women. But people close to him claim that what the public saw on the surface wasn’t exactly how he was in real life.
One unnamed friend described Bing as the “most charming, caring and generous guy you could ever meet.” However, the source also said that his death was unfortunately unsurprising for his circle, although they are still devastated since they have known he had been battling bipolar disorder for years.
“Steve did have a drug problem, but it was the mental issues that tormented him. He would often disappear for long periods of time. He didn’t have a strong relationship with his kids, and he was sad about that,” the insider shared.
His financial woes ultimately took a toll on him, with the source citing Bing’s investments like an alleged film project with Warren Beatty.
“People imagine it is impossible to run through $600 million, but he did. He was too generous,” the source said of Bing.
Meanwhile, another source revealed that Hurley’s former love sold his home and jet.
TMZ reported that Bing jumped from a posh apartment in Century City in Los Angeles. The outlet’s sources claimed that he was depressed due to a “lack of human contact” during the quarantine period.
Hurley, meanwhile, said that she and Bing had become close again prior to the latter’s suicide.
