Finally, justice has been done. The kidnapper of Elizabeth Smart, Brian David Mitchell, a homeless street preacher was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday.

Mitchell, 57, kidnapped Elizabeth at knifepoint from her bed in June 2002. She was found nine months later in March 2003, in Sandy, Utah, 18 miles away from her home.

On Wednesday, 23-year old Elizabeth faced Brian David Mitchell in a packed courtroom before he was sent behind the bars for life time.

You took away nine months of my life that can never be replaced... In this life or the next, you will be held responsible for your actions and I hope you're ready for that when the time comes, Reuters quoted Smart as saying to Mitchell.
