Elle Macpherson launches Virgin Blue’s new designer uniforms

Australian supermodel, Elle Macpherson and Virgin Blue have partnered to launch the brand's new flight attendant uniforms on a fashion runway on Wednesday.

Designed exclusively by Australian designer Juli Grbac, the new uniform depicts the company's first step in a series of exciting changes for the year 2011.

Our new uniforms represent the start of an exciting new future for Virgin Blue as we begin to reposition the airline in Australia over the next two years, stated Danielle Keighery, Virgin Blue Group Executive of Corporate Communications.

The designer uniforms in striking red and royal purple color combinations were modeled by 60 of Virgin Blue's own pilots and crew members besides Macpherson.

Project Runway winner Juli Grbac was thrilled to be part of the unique project.

To have my designs seen by millions of people every year is such an amazing opportunity and it all came to life today. I took inspiration from the glamour of flying in the 1960s and gave it a contemporary edge to fit Virgin Blue's new brand positioning. I worked closely with Virgin Blue to create the ultimate design that would not only look sophisticated and have that wow factor, but be comfortable and of superior quality, Grbac stated.

Meanwhile, the Virgin Blue Group has also recently announced the launch of its new designer business and economy class products for guests travelling between Sydney and Perth.
