Though Ellen DeGeneres had denied rumors that her marriage is in turmoil, In Touch reported Monday that her marriage is experiencing a crisis after her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, reportedly had a secret rehab stint for drugs and alcohol abuse.

The couple reportedly had an “ugly fight,” which led de Rossi to check into a rehab facility in early May. Though DeGeneres puts on a brave face for her daytime talk show, a source said that the couple is anything but happy.

The story said the couple’s marriage is riddled with jealousy, fighting and lies. It was recently reported that de Rossi was jealous of DeGeneres’ friendship with “Modern Family” actress Sofia Vergara. “Ellen is domineering and Portia is passive. Ellen always calls the shots, and Portia never complains,” the source told In Touch, according to Radar Online. "They got into an ugly fight," the insider added.

De Rossi’s substance abuse issues have apparently played a large role in their alleged fractured relationship. “She felt like a prisoner in her own home. She went from sipping white wine occasionally to drinking at least a bottle or more a day and topping it off with a pill,” the insider continued.

“It got to the point where she was out of it four nights a week," the source said. "They’ve had vicious shouting matches -- with both of them yelling cruel, soul-crushing put-downs that they both deeply regretted.”

Apparently, the actress blames the talk show host for her unhappiness. “Portia hadn’t been happy for a while and was drinking and isolating [herself], and Ellen confronted her," the source said. "Portia lost it and blamed Ellen for driving her to drink because of her controlling ways and said she wasn’t in love with her anymore. Ellen was crushed and screamed at Portia to get out.”

The “Arrested Development” star reportedly checked into Passages in Malibu, and stayed for a 30-day treatment. DeGeneres visited her wife every weekend while she was there, the magazine wrote.

If the story is true, it wouldn’t be the first time de Rossi sought treatment. In 2000, she went to rehab when she dropped down to 82 pounds after suffering from an eating disorder.
