Ellen DeGeneres is wrapping up her talk show with a bang as she is reportedly handing out millions in bonuses to her staffers for their service through the years.
The 64-year-old TV personality is gifting her staff “millions of dollars” in bonuses as the show’s finale draws near, the New York Post exclusively revealed Wednesday.
No exact amount was disclosed, but an insider told the outlet DeGeneres felt she needed to give back to the people she worked with on the set of her long-running talk show.
“It was not even a question for Ellen to cover bonuses… That was very important to her,” the source said.
The unnamed tipster went on to say that DeGeneres “has been incredibly generous” to her employees since the talk show premiered in September 2003.
Meanwhile, other sources told Deadline this week that the bonuses DeGeneres is giving her employees and crew members will be based on the years of service they rendered.
The sources shared the breakdown of the bonuses, saying two-week pay will be given to those who were part of the show for 1-4 years, three-week pay for 4-8 years and six-week pay for the longest-serving staffers.
Around 30% of the show’s employees are “old-timers” who worked with Ellen for over 10 years. Many others were part of the daytime series for 15, while a few, including most executive producers, have been with DeGeneres for all 19 seasons.
When the current season of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” premiered last fall, DeGeneres reportedly gave her team gifts to celebrate the finale run of the series.
The Post learned that DeGeneres was very lavish with her gifts since her employees received “trips, watches [and] cars.”
The final episode of Ellen’s eponymous talk show will air on May 26, on NBC. Dozens of the show’s most memorable guests are coming back to make appearances in the run-up to the finale.
The stars scheduled to share their favorite moments with DeGeneres on the show ahead of the last episode include David Letterman, Kim Kardashian, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Diane Keaton, Zac Efron, Serena Williams, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and the host’s longtime wife, Portia de Rossi, as per Entertainment Weekly.
