Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi Selling $24M Beach House Amid Divorce Rumors
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are selling their California beach house amid divorce rumors plaguing them.
DeGeneres and de Rossi decided to put their oceanfront estate in Carpinteria, California, in the market for $24 million. The couple flipped the house after purchasing it for $18.6 million less than two years ago, CNBC reported.
The 6,862-square-foot estate sits on 1.13 acres, including 77 feet of beachfront property. It has three bedrooms and bathrooms. Its living room features floor-to-ceiling windows that slide open to a deck with the breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean.
Its kitchen opens up to an outdoor patio. The master bedroom has a fireplace and a private patio with views of the beach. The master bathroom has floor-to-ceiling glass walls that also gives an ocean view.
The house has multiple decks including one off the living room. There is also a private rooftop deck with fireplace.
That’s not all, the estate includes a one-bedroom, two-bathroom guesthouse. Its living room has a fireplace and the door leads to a private tennis court.
The selling of the said property came amid the rumors that the couple is getting a divorce. New Idea published a report earlier claiming that DeGeneres and de Rossi are leading separate lives because they fight a lot. In fact, they are “barely on speaking terms.”
DeGeneres is reportedly jealous of Portia’s decision to focus on her acting career. As de Rossi struggles with her tight schedule, DeGeneres is “incredibly demanding” to have more time with her.
Also, DeGeneres reportedly asked a lot of questions when de Rossi arrives home. The popular host wants to keep track of her wife’s move especially when she gets home late.
DeGeneres knows that she is already being unreasonable but continues doing it because she’s not used to of having Portia away from her. The insider said that DeGeneres was having a hard time adapting to the changes but was willing to support de Rossi’s career in the long run.
In the past interview, DeGeneres confessed that went through a hard time after coming out due to the bullying she endured. In fact, her self-titled sitcom was also canceled.
“I moved out of L.A., went into a severe depression, started seeing a therapist and had to go on antidepressants for the first time in my life,” she said.
“It was scary and lonely. All I’d known for 30 years was work, and all of a sudden I had nothing. Plus, I was mad. It didn’t feel fair — I was the same person everyone had always known.”
