Ellen DeGeneres Reacts To Jason Sudeikis' Impressions Of Her During 'SNL' Sketch [Watch]
Ellen DeGeneres has reacted to the "Saturday Night Live" sketch performed by actor Jason Sudeikis. Called "Mellen," the act was based on the host's original show.
DeGeneres talked about the sketch on the Thursday episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," noting that it was "hilarious" and she enjoyed watching it with her wife Portia de Rossi while "trying to get rid of this wine that was stuck in a bottle."
The 63-year-old host noted that she would definitely watch that show, in which Sudeikis played a hyper-masculine version of her.
"That's a show I would watch," DeGeneres added. "You know, we should do that. After we finish this season, we should do a show like that. I loved it. I'm flattered by that."
She also showed a clip of actress Kate McKinnon impersonating her in the past.
Toward the end of the clip, DeGeneres said, "Jason, when you're done with Ted Lasso, we should do this show. And if you're a studio executive, you know what they say, when you have an Ellen, make Mellen."
The comments section was filled with messages saying "Mellen" should really happen because netizens loved it.
DeGeneres is currently filming the 19th and final season of the talk show. The announcement of the show's end came after a media outlet wrote about the toxic work environment on its set.
Many current and former employees also came forward to talk about the talk show. In July 2020, an ex-employee told Buzzfeed News, "If [Ellen] wants to have her own show and have her name on the show title, she needs to be more involved to see what's going on."
However, when DeGeneres broke out the news, she didn't cite the allegations thrown at her and the show. Instead, she said her "instinct" told her it was time to wrap up.
"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" began in September 2003. Its final episode will air in November 2021.
DeGeneres will be next seen in the TV series "Little Funny." Besides appearing on screen, she also serves as a producer for the movie "Couple Time," which is expected to release next year.
