They say bad news comes in threes, and for Ellen DeGeneres, that seems to be the case.

The talk show host has come under fire in recent weeks with accusations that she's not as kind as she portrays herself to be on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." The criticism started with famous YouTuber NikkieTutorials, full name Nikkie de Jager, who shared her disappointing experience as a guest on the program last month.

That was followed by negative reports from various individuals including talk show staff members and a former bodyguard of the 62-year-old comedian. There are also rumors that she and wife Portia de Rossi are on the verge of divorce.

Couple all of this with the global uncertainty that the COVID-19 pandemic has evoked and it's easy to understand why a source told Us Weekly that, "Ellen is at the end of her rope."

"She thought this was all just sour grapes from a few haters. But it’s not a passing thing — the hits just keep coming," the insider explained.

Another unidentified source shared that, despite the alleged divorce rumors, de Rossi has played a huge role in helping DeGeneres deal with the news.

"Ellen’s so grateful to have Portia in her life as a soulmate and a sounding board, but that doesn’t mean it’s been easy," the insider said. "Their home life is strained right now. ...Her real friends never ask her to be funny or tell jokes. They accept her as is."

The second source added that in the long run, the accusations probably won't result in a dramatic loss of fans.

"Ellen’s been in our homes for so long, it’ll take a lot more than a bodyguard and a blogger to change how people feel about her," they noted. "Her best response is just being happy Ellen on the show every day."
