Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, currently the world's richest person, has sold all seven of his homes in California to make good on the vow he made two years ago that he will sell nearly all of his physical possessions.

In May 2020, Musk announced on social media his plan to sell his properties by tweeting: “Will own no house.”

After making the statement, he began selling his luxury homes, including six houses in the neighborhood of Bel-Air in Los Angeles and a 100-year-old estate in Hillsborough, northern California, that he purchased for a total of $102 million.

Musk unloaded all seven houses for about $127.9 million between June 2020 and November 2021, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing PropertyShark and public records. He reportedly made a profit of around $25 million.

The buyers of these properties include Kirill Evstratov, founder and CEO of financial tech company Unlimint, William Ding, founder of mobile gaming company NetEase, and Ardie Tavangarian, an L.A. developer.

Tavangarian bought four of Musk’s houses in Bel-Air for a total of $62 million in December 2020. He told WSJ that he’s considering combining the four properties, which are located on two different streets.

Evstratov, meanwhile, purchased the Hillsborough property for $30 million in November 2021. Known as de Guigne Court, the estate covers 47.4 acres of land and has a 16,000-square-foot, Mediterranean-style house with five bedrooms, a ballroom and a flower-arranging room.

In addition to the seven houses, Musk sold another property, the former home of actor and director Gene Wilder, to Wilder’s 53-year-old nephew, Jordan Walker-Pearlman.

So far, none of the new owners have altered the properties they bought from Musk, the outlet noted.

While he is currently estimated to be worth $220.5 billion, according to Forbes, Musk's primary home today is not a luxury mansion.

Last year, Musk tweeted that he is currently living in a tiny house in Boca Chica, Texas, where the SpaceX headquarters are located.

"My primary home is literally a [$50,000] house in Boca Chica/Starbase that I rent from SpaceX. It’s kinda awesome though,” he wrote. "Only house I own is the events house in the Bay Area. If I sold it, the house would see less use, unless bought by a big family, which might happen someday."
