Will Smith walked the red carpet for the first time with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith since the Oscars controversy earlier this year. The couple attended the premiere of Will's upcoming movie, "Emancipation" at The Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, Los Angeles, on Wednesday.

During the premiere, Will spoke about the reason behind choosing this movie.
"When I took this film, I envisioned the potential service it could be to the modern social conversation," the actor told Deadline. "I thought it would be a necessary reminder of some of the roads we've been down as a country in the past to potentially avert those similar paths."
He added, "To have a movie like this, in this time for me, and even this time in my life, is poetic perfection."

Earlier this week, the actor opened up about his worry regarding the controversial Oscars moment and how it may impact the reception for his upcoming movie, which is based on a true story of a slave named Peter, who runs away from a Louisiana plantation after being tortured by the owners.
"The only discomfort my heart has around that is that so many people have done spectacular work on this film," Will said. "My hope is that my team isn't penalized at all for my actions."
"Emancipation" is slated to release in theatres on Dec. 2 and it will start streaming on Apple TV+ from Dec. 9 onwards.
Considering his other upcoming projects, the actor will be featured in "The Council," "Fast and Loose" and the fourth installment of "Bad Boys."
