Lily Collins recounted that time she met Princess Diana and tried to snatch a bouquet from the royal.
When Collins, 32, appeared on "The Late Late Show With James Corden" Tuesday, the host showed the actress a throwback photo featuring her younger self and Princess Diana.
"Here you are with your dad Phil Collins, this is you here being handed some flowers from Princess Diana. Do you have any recollection of this moment in time?" the host asked her.
Collins then shared the hilarious story behind the photo.
"I’ve been told this is what happened," the "Emily in Paris" star was quoted by Page Six as saying. "That’s my mom and my dad and I and it’s at a Prince’s Trust event and I’m giving Diana flowers, but the second that she went to take them, I then tried to pull them back."
She jokingly added, "So as you can imagine, all the air was sucked out of the room."
In the snap, 2-year-old Collins was too adorable for anyone to actually be upset with her. "I was wearing a cute dress, so who’s going to really punish me there," the actress continued.
Collins also shared her close encounter with Prince Charles at about the same age. According to her, she threw a toy telephone at the heir apparent. "Again, all the air was sucked out of the room," Collins added.
The "Extremely Wicked Shockingly Evil and Vile" star had been around the royal family quite often because of her musician dad, Phil Collins, who was involved in their charitable endeavors.
"My dad did a lot of stuff with the Prince’s Trust so and I grew up in England, I’m British," she explained. "I just went along for the ride and I guess I had a tendency to do naughty things as a 2-year-old."
In the same interview, Collins talked about her swimming experience with whales. According to her, it was very random. They were on a vacation and her husband, Charlie McDowell, surfs. She was there to watch him and they saw a mother and a baby dolphin.
According to Collins, the captain of a little ship invited her to swim with the dolphins. She was initially hesitant but decided to just jump in. She thought they had lost the dolphins, and when they found them, the mother and baby dolphins pivoted and stared at her for 30 seconds, and at that moment, she felt a sense of calm she had never felt in her entire life.
"You would think that that would be terrifying, but it was the most calming experience," she said.
