Emily Ratajkowski is expecting her first child with husband Sebastian Bear-McClard.

Ratajkowski made the announcement via a video and essay for Vogue. One clip the model shared on Instagram from her Vogue cover shoot showed her cradling her growing baby bump.

"Grateful & growing. Thank you @voguemagazine for this very special cover," she wrote in the caption.

She also shared a short film directed by her friend, Lena Dunham, documenting her pregnancy for the magazine shoot.

"I dreamed of you for the first time the other night," Ratajkowski says to her unborn child in the video. "We are wondering who you will be."

In a separate post, she shared more photos of herself showing off her baby bump.

In Ratajkowski's essay for Vogue, she wrote that one important lesson her pregnancy has taught her was humility. She also revealed that she and her husband want to raise their child with as few gender stereotypes as possible.

“When my husband and I tell friends that I’m pregnant, their first question after ‘Congratulations’ is almost always ‘Do you know what you want?” We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then,” she wrote.

She continued, “Everyone laughs at this. There is a truth to our line, though, one that hints at possibilities that are much more complex than whatever genitalia our child might be born with: the truth that we ultimately have no idea who — rather than what — is growing inside my belly. Who will this person be? What kind of person will we become parents to? How will they change our lives and who we are? This is a wondrous and terrifying concept, one that renders us both helpless and humbled.”

Ratajkowski also said that she considered herself superstitious, but her pregnancy made her realize that the idea that she could jinx something stemmed from her wanting to bring a certain result. Thus, it was a coping mechanism she developed to make herself more in control.

But with a growing baby inside of her and the unstoppable changes in her body brought about by her pregnancy, the 29-year-old model said she no longer thinks this way.

"I used to use magical thinking whenever I wanted something to go a certain way. Now, though, I don’t try to envision a pink or blue blanket in my arms. I’m too humbled to have any false notions of control," Ratajkowski shared.

"I’m completely and undeniably helpless when it comes to almost everything surrounding my pregnancy: how my body will change, who my child will be," she explained. "But I’m surprisingly unbothered. Instead of feeling afraid, I feel a new sense of peace. I’m already learning from this person inside my body. I’m full of wonder."
