Emma Roberts' Boyfriend Garrett Hedlund Arrested For DUI In January Amid Actress’ Pregnancy

Emma Roberts' boyfriend Garrett Hedlund was arrested for driving under the influence earlier this year. The soon-to-be dad immediately sought treatment for his alcohol problem.

On Jan. 24, Hedlund was arrested for DUI as he had a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit. But he is now in a good place as he awaits his baby with Roberts.

"When the incident occurred, Garrett immediately sought treatment which was successful," Hedlund's rep told Us Weekly.

"Today, he is in a solid and great place."

The 36-year-old actor was arrested on two DUI charges, according to the court documents obtained by Us Weekly. His blood alcohol level was at .36 percent, which was over four times more than what was allowed (.08). He was released on $100,000 bail.

Hedlund's sentencing happened in February and he did not contest one charge in which the court found him guilty. The second DUI charge was dismissed.

The "Mosaic" star's attorney, Blair Burke, negotiated a plea deal that required Hedlund to complete a 30-day residential treatment program and nine-month first-offender alcohol and drug education counseling program. The other conditions were doing a 36-month probation, attending 30 AA meetings and performing 100 hours of community service.

In addition, he was ordered to install an ignition interlock device in his car to monitor his alcohol levels.

In 2006, the "Tron" actor was also arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report obtained by Us Weekly. He was pulled over for speeding and he told the officers he was from Phoenix and was driving a friend's car. He denied any drugs in the vehicle, but a K-9 dog searched the car and found three plastic containers with a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.

Roberts and Hedlund's romance was first reported in May 2019. A few weeks ago, Roberts and Hedlund confirmed that they were expecting their first child together on Instagram.

Prior to their post, Roberts’ mom, Kelly Cunningham, already answered a fan asking if she was pregnant. Cunningham's response resulted in an Instagram war between her and her daughter because the latter wanted to keep her pregnancy private, but her mom thought she had already announced it.

Roberts and her mom are already on good terms. But she joked in an interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" last month that "mothers and Instagram" make a bad combination.
