Emma Stone is raising funds for a worthy cause while bringing back an '80s film favorite.
During a charity’s Instagram livestream on Saturday (April 25), Stone showed off her moves while lip syncing to “You’re The One That I Want,” a hit song from the 1982 classic musical "Grease." Along with dancer and choreographer Ryan Heffington, the 31-year-old actress took over the organization’s Instagram page, showcasing an energetic dance and a couple of costume changes in the #SweatFest galore, People reported.
Child Mind Institute is a nonprofit organization that provides telehealth support for children and adolescents diagnosed with emotional, behavioral and learning problems. During the Instagram livestream, the Oscar-winning actress, who is also a board member of the organization, explained that they are currently “doing telehealth conferencing for kids, teens and families all around the country and beyond.” By reaching out, Stone believes that this will help people “take care of their mental health as well as their physical health.”
The actress also added, “While we’re all taking care of our physical health, staying at home and trying to support essential workers, sometimes we need a little extra support with mental health.”
On its Instagram page, the organization posted Stone and Heffington’s dance clips. “Big thank you to @childmindinstitute board member Emma Stone, and @ryan.heffington for taking over our Instagram Live this afternoon with #SWEATFEST,” the caption read.
“They're helping raise funds to enable us to support groups, provide telehealth and create online resources for children and their families, who need extra support during COVID-19,” the organization continued.
The “La La Land” star has been working with the organization since 2017 and only became its official board member last year. The actress shared that since she became part of this charity, she hopes to share her lifelong experiences and be of service to children and teens’ mental health and learning disorders from across the nation.
“This is a stigma-shattering organization I am deeply passionate about, and I’m looking forward to helping the Child Mind Institute continue to advance its critically important work,” Stone said.
Stone has also been open about her battle with anxiety in the past. According to CNN, the Oscar winner shared that she was just 7 years old when she suffered her first panic attack. The actress has since then turned this unfortunate ordeal into an example that she can use to empathize with these children.
In 2017, the actress created a video for the organization also known as the #MyYoungerSelf awareness campaign. Here she expressed, “It’s so normal, everyone experiences a version of anxiety or worry in their lives and maybe we go through it in a different or more intense way, or for longer periods of time, but there’s nothing wrong with you.”
