Erick Adame says that he has been fired from his position as the morning meteorologist on Spectrum News NY1 for a leaked appearance on an adult cam site.

The two-time Emmy-nominated weatherman, 38, took to Instagram Monday to announce his termination and to apologize for secretly "performing on camera for other men" from home, a decision he attributed to his "compulsive behaviors."

"Despite being a public figure and being on television in the biggest market in the country in front of millions of people five days a week for more than a decade and a half, I secretly appeared on an adult webcam website," Adame confessed.

"It was 100% consensual on both of our parts," he wrote of his appearance on the adult site. "I wasn't paid for this, and it was absurd of me to think I could keep this private. Nonetheless, my employer found out and I was suspended and then terminated."

Adame apologized to his employers at Spectrum, family, friends and audiences for any "embarrassment or humiliation" he has caused and said that he is seeking professional help.

But he made it clear that he was not apologizing "for being openly gay or for being sex-positive."

In his statement, the meteorologist also asked potential future employers to "judge me on the hundreds, thousands of hours of television that I am so proud of and that my employers have always commended me for, and not [a] couple of minutes of salacious video that is probably going to soon define me in our 'click-bait' culture."

Earlier Monday, Adame filed a lawsuit in New York state court seeking to force a video chat website, identified as Unit 4 Media, to disclose the identity of the anonymous user who sent nude screenshots of the meteorologist to his employer, according to court documents obtained by The Daily Beast.

The website is not specified in Adame's filing, but a site called LPSG.com advises users, "When you buy an LPSG membership, it will appear on your bank statement as Unit 4 Media."

His petition stated that Adame had been experiencing troubles since late 2021, when he used Unit 4's video chat service, and an "anonymous user wrongfully copied unclothed images" of him by secretly taking screenshots.

The user "wrongfully disseminated the images" to Adame's employer and mother, "with the intent of harassing, annoying, or alarming" him and "tortiously interfering" with his job, the filing alleged.

Adame was adamant about pursuing legal action against the anonymous user — whose usernames include Sonal Prehonn, Tommysize29, Funtimes99, and Landenboy227 — "but is presently unable to do so without the information to identify" them, the petition said.

According to Monday's filing, Unit 4 Media claimed that it does not keep records that would identify the user, including "user-supplied information and Ip addresses."

"Our client's policy is to comply with lawfully issued subpoenas. Capturing and disseminating user content without consent violates our client's Terms of Service and forum Rules which may result in a suspension or banning of the offending accounts," Lawrence Walters, an attorney for Unit 4 Media and LPSG, told The Daily Beast via email.

Following his post, Adame received support from social media users and fans, who sent him positive energy and words of encouragement.

"Heartbroken to hear this, Eric [sic]. You have been a highlight to my mornings for years. I'm confident you'll find a way through this. You're a class act. This post is honest, authentic, and direct. Much prosperity to you," one user wrote.

Another commented, "I'd been missing you on NY1! Thank you for being honest with your fans about what happened. We're all cheering you on and looking forward to seeing your future successes."

Adame had worked for Spectrum News since 2007 and had appeared as the NY1 meteorologist on Mornings on 1 for the New York City area since 2017.
