It’s that time when everyone gathers to discuss the best of the best that TV has had to offer over the last year. We’re talking, of course, about the Emmys. At this ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, Sept. 17 and will air on CBS, some of the finest actors and actresses are vying for awards. Those nominated include: Nicole Kidman, Alec Baldwin, Millie Bobby Brown, Kevin Spacey and many more.

Here are our predictions for which actors and actresses will win in the major acting categories at the 2017 Emmys:

Drama Series

“Better Call Saul” (AMC)
“The Crown” (Netflix)
“The Handmaid’s Tale” (Hulu)
“House of Cards” (Netflix)
“Stranger Things” (Netflix)
“This Is Us” (NBC)
“Westworld” (HBO)

Why?: As much as the world loves “Stranger Things” and as much as critics are raving about “The Handmaid’s Tale,” it’s HBO’s “Westworld” that is getting a lot of both, as well as fills the void of “Game of Thrones.”

Comedy Series

“Atlanta” (FX)
“Black-ish” (ABC)
“Master of None” (Netflix)
“Modern Family” (ABC)
“Silicon Valley” (HBO)
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” (Netflix)
“Veep” (HBO)

Why?: No amateur to the Emmy-world, “Veep” is that perfect combination of humor, reality and point-driven silliness.

“Veep” is nominated at Emmys 2017. HBO

Drama Actress

Viola Davis (“How to Get Away With Murder”)
Claire Foy (“The Crown”)
Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
Keri Russell (“The Americans”)
Evan Rachel Wood (“Westworld”)
Robin Wright (“House of Cards”)

Why?: While “The Handmaid’s Tale” might not win as a show, that doesn’t mean its actresses won’t get that win. Alexis Bledel has already won the Emmy for guest actress in a drama series for her work on the series, and now it’s Moss’ turn to win for her role.

Drama Actor

Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”)
Anthony Hopkins (“Westworld”)
Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”)
Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”)
Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan”)
Kevin Spacey (“House of Cards”)
Milo Ventimiglia (“This Is Us”)

Why?: Capturing the hearts of viewers everywhere, “This Is Us” deserves lots of love. As do the two of its actors who are nominated in this category, but Brown’s storylines and his star power will most likely make him the frontrunner for this award.

Comedy Actor

Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”)
Aziz Ansari (“Master of None”)
Zach Galifianakis (“Baskets”)
Donald Glover (“Atlanta”)
William H. Macy (“Shameless”)
Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent”)

Why?: This category is stacked with exceptional nominees, but there’s a high and exciting chance that Glover will pull through as the winner with his work during the first season of his series “Atlanta.”

Comedy Actress

Pamela Adlon (“Better Things”)
Tracee Ellis-Ross (“black-ish”)
Jane Fonda (“Grace and Frankie”)
Lily Tomlin (“Grace and Frankie”)
Allison Janney (“Mom”)
Ellie Kemper (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”)
Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”)

Why?: There’s a reason Julia Louis-Dreyfus continues to be nominated and that’s because she’s fabulous and hilarious and that hasn’t changed.

Limited Series
“Big Little Lies” (HBO)
“Fargo” (FX)
“Feud: Bette and Joan” (FX)
“The Night Of” (HBO)
“Genius” (National Geographic)

Big Little Lies
Many of those in the “Big Little Lies” cast are nominated at the 2017 Emmys. HBO

Why?: It’s “Big Little Lies” that most had people talking this year. It’s “Big Little Lies” that have people clamoring for a second season. It’s “Big Little Lies” that has reminded people how exceptional its cast is, as if they needed reminding.

Limited Series Actor
Riz Ahmed (“The Night Of”)
Benedict Cumberbatch (“Sherlock: The Lying Detective”)
Robert De Niro (“The Wizard of Lies”)
Ewan McGregor (“Fargo”)
Geoffrey Rush (“Genius”)
John Turturro (“The Night Of”)

Why?: Of all these series, “The Night Of” was the most-talked about, by both critics and general viewers alike. That said, between the two actors nominated, it’s likely that Ahmed will take the lead.

Limited Series Actress

Carrie Coon (“Fargo”)
Felicity Huffman (“American Crime”)
Nicole Kidman (“Big Little Lies”)
Jessica Lange (“Feud”)
Susan Sarandon (“Feud”)
Reese Witherspoon (“Big Little Lies”)

Why?: Witherspoon and Kidman were both great in “Big Little Lies,” but Kidman will come out on top to receive this award due to her storyline and the extra amount of emotion she had to pour into it.

Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

John Lithgow (“The Crown”)
Jonathan Banks (“Better Call Saul”)
Mandy Patinkin (“Homeland”)
Michael Kelly (“House of Cards”)
David Harbour (“Stranger Things”)
Ron Cephas Jones (“This Is Us”)
Jeffrey Wright (“Westworld”)

john-lithgow-the-crown-620x360
John Lithgow is nominated for a support actor award at the 2017 Emmys for his work on “The Crown.” Netflix

Why?: “The Crown” has yet to really make a dent in this predictions list, but Lithgow changes that. His portrayal of Winston Churchill on the Netflix series should be enough to bring him out on top.

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

Ann Dowd (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
Samira Wiley (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is the New Black”)
Millie Bobby Brown (“Stranger Things”)
Chrissy Metz (“This Is Us”)
Thandie Newton (“Westworld”)

Why?: There isn’t anyone that people have been praising more than Brown. She’s taken her role in “Stranger Things” and truly brought the character, and her career, to life. With her character being of very few words, it just goes to prove how great of an actress she is that she’s able to take that and turn it into so much more.

Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Alec Baldwin (“Saturday Night Live”)
Louie Anderson (“Baskets”)
Ty Burrell (“Modern Family”)
Tituss Burgess (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”)
Tony Hale (“Veep”)
Matt Walsh (“Veep”)

Why?: Baldwin’s portrayal of President Trump on the long-running comedy series is spot-on, hilarious and keeps him, and viewers, coming back for more.

Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”)
Vanessa Bayer (“Saturday Night Live”)
Leslie Jones (“Saturday Night Live”)
Anna Chlumsky (“Veep”)
Judith Light (“Transparent”)
Kathryn Hahn (“Transparent”)

Why?: In such a tough category, this must’ve been one of the hardest to choose a winner in. But, McKinnon’s consistently great work on “SNL” is enough to hurdle toward the top, while her cold open as Hillary Clinton singing “Hallelujah” is enough to send her the rest of the way.

Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
Bill Camp (“The Night Of”)
Alfred Molina (“Feud: Bette and Joan”)
Alexander Skarsgård (“Big Little Lies”)
David Thewlis (“Fargo”)
Stanley Tucci (“Feud: Bette and Joan”)
Michael K. Williams (“The Night Of”)

Why?: Again, “The Night Of” is one of those limited series that has had people talking for a long time after. Both Camp and Williams were very talented in the series, but Camp’s work as a detective might’ve been enough to grab the title.

Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie

Judy Davis (“Feud: Bette and Joan”)
Laura Dern (“Big Little Lies”)
Jackie Hoffman (“Feud: Bette and Joan”)
Regina King (“American Crime”)
Michelle Pfeiffer (“The Wizard of Lies”)
Shailene Woodley (“Big Little Lies”)

Why?: Woodley has already proved that she’s both a talented action and drama film star, but not as many people have given her TV talents much credit for her early work on ABC Family (now Freeform), but she changed all of that with “Big Little Lies.” She converted many non-believers and strengthened the beliefs of those that already appreciated her and her work.

Children’s Program
“Girl Meets World” (Disney Channel)
“Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 90th Celebration” (NBC)
“Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas” (HBO)
“School of Rock” (Nickelodeon)
“Star Wars Rebels” (Disney XD)

Why?: The canceled Disney Channel series deserves to take the win and now, since the series is over, it’s its last chance. The series may be under the children’s program title, but it is for both kids and people of all ages to enjoy. It’s funny, heartbreaking, sweet and very smart.
