Emmys: Where To Watch ‘Game Of Thrones,’ ‘The Crown,’ Other Drama Nominees

With over 500 scripted shows on television this year, it’s even harder to keep up with Emmy-nominated TV shows. Luckily, anyone can catch up with the seven best drama nominees if they have an internet connection. The dramatic series are available to stream online, but first, you have to know where to look.

“This Is Us,” which was nominated eight times this year, is available on Hulu and NBC.com. The former needs a subscription while the latter requires you to log in with info from your cable provider.

The drama already picked up one statue at the Creative Arts Emmys last week. Ron Cephas Jones (William) won best guest actor in a drama. Dr. K actor Gerald McRaney was also in the category.

On Monday night, last year’s winner Sterling K. Brown (Randall) and Milo Ventimiglia (Jack) will face off in the best lead actor in a drama category. Of course, it also faces heavy competition in the best drama category from the below nominees.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” is only available on Hulu, which requires a subscription. It’s the streamer’s most successful original series, having swept up eight statues at last year’s Emmys. Season 2 earned 20 nominations.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” won three statues at the Creative Arts Emmys for single camera editing in a drama, production design for a contemporary or fantasy single-camera series and best guest actress. Samira Wiley (Moira) won the latter, beating out co-stars Cherry Jones (Holly) and Kelly Jenrette (Annie).

In addition to best drama, “The Handmaid’s Tale” is up for best writing and directing at the Primetime Emmys. Elisabeth Moss (June/Offred) is up for best actress, which she won last year. Joseph Fiennes (Fred) is nominated for best supporting actor while Alexis Bledel (Emily), Ann Dowd (Lydia) and Yvonne Strahovski (Serena) are facing off in the best supporting actress category.

“The Crown” Season 2 is a Netflix original, so it’s only available to subscribers of the streaming service.

The historical drama scooped up trophies for best casting, period costumes and cinematography for a one-hour, single-camera series last week. This week, in addition to best drama, they’re up for awards in the writing and directing categories. Plus, Vanessa Kirby (Princess Margaret) and Matt Smith (Prince Philip) are in the supporting actress and actor categories while Claire Foy (Queen Elizabeth II) is nominated for best actress.

“Stranger Things” Season 2 can be seen on Netflix. The original series scored 12 Emmy nods this year.

It won for best sound editing last week, and on Monday, it might score a few more. David Harbour (Jim) is up for best supporting actor while Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) is in the best supporting actress category. The series is up for best directing, best writing and best drama as well.

“Game of Thrones” Season 7 is available to stream on HBO’s apps (HBO Go and HBO Now), which can be included with your cable package or a separate subscription can be ordered. It’s already won several 2018 Emmys.

At the Creative Arts ceremony, it won seven statues for stunt coordination, visual effects, sound mixing, dramatic score, prosthetic makeup, production design for a fantasy series and costumes for a fantasy series. On Monday night, like its fellow best drama nominees, it’s up in writing, directing and acting categories. It’s just the Lannisters who received acting nominations, though. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) are up for best supporting actor while Lena Headey (Cersei) is nominated for best supporting actress.

“Westworld” Season 2 is another HBO series, so it is also only available to stream via HBO’s apps.

The sci-fi series was nominated for 21 Emmys this year. At the Creative Arts ceremony, 16 of those categories were announced, but “Westworld” only walked away with three statues for makeup in a single camera series (non-prosthetic), hairstyling in a single camera series and interactive program within a scripted program. On Monday, it’s only competing in acting categories and best drama. Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) is up for best leading actress, and Thandie Newton (Maeve) is vying for best supporting actress. Ed Harris (Man in Black) and Jeffrey Wright (Bernard) are both nominated for leading actor.

“The Americans” is available on FX+. The service requires a cable provider login, but the cost isn’t totally included in your cable bill. It’ll add an extra $5.99 to your bill.

The spy drama has been largely ignored for its six-season run, which might be why it has fewer nominations than any other series nominated for best drama. It was up for no Creative Arts Emmys. In addition to best drama, it’s up for best writing and stars Keri Russell (Elizabeth) and Matthew Rhys (Philip) are both nominated in the lead acting categories.

Fans can watch the Primetime Emmys when they air Monday night on NBC to see which drama takes home the most statues.
