Is 'Empire' New Tonight? Details On Season 2, Episode 6
While the Kansas City Royals and their fans enjoy their first World Series win in 30 years, it'll be game on for Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) on Season 2 of Fox's hip-hop drama, "Empire." The Lyon family will be on the prowl this Wednesday to try and find their missing son Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) in episode 6, titled "A High Hope For A Low Heaven," after a week hiatus due to the fall classic.
In episode 5, Cookie and Hakeem's new label, Lyon Dynasty, started to receive threats from the streets in the neighborhood where their headquarters is. Tiana (Serayah) was mugged inside the front door of the building and two men broke into the office to try and steal Cookie's masters and bug the place. The two men were acting on orders passed down by Lucious' lawyer, Thirsty (Andre Royo). After Andre's (Trai Byers) baptism, Hakeem was shown going for a run in a park when he was grabbed by a group of thugs and thrown into the back of a van. Were Lucious and Thirsty involved in Hakeem's disappearance or are the streets really searching to take money from Lyon Dynasty?
Cookie and Laz (Adam Rodriguez) are expected to get even closer with one another in episode 6 after Laz promised to help Cookie promote Lyon Dynasty and helped protect her when the men broke in. The episode 6 promo video shows the two sharing a kiss.
Hakeem has shown much growth so far this season, compared to how he was in Season 1. He's more willing to put the work in himself instead of taking handouts from Lucious and he recently found a new singer for his all girl group in Laura (Jamila Velazquez), who is slowly developing into a new love interest for him. Hakeem will have to grow a little more as he tries to fight his way out of the situation he's been placed in. Will he be able to escape those who kidnapped him or will Cookie and Lucious be too late?
Jamal (Jussie Smollett) will be asked by Cookie and Lucious to stay out of the search for Hakeem because he is also in danger. Instead, he'll return to the studio to make some new music and he might get some help from his old producer, Cookie. Jamal will also have to recoup after catching his boyfriend, Michael (Rafael de la Fuente), cheating on him after he decided he'd bring Michael out on tour with him. In the aftermath of this, Jamal will look to put aside the perception people have of him as a "gay artist."
