‘Empire’ Season 2 Spoilers: The ‘Truth’ Behind Lucious’ Identity To Be Revealed In Finale, Says EP
Lucious Lyon has always been a man in control on Fox’s “Empire.” No matter what the problem, he finds a way to make it go away, and things appear to work out for him. Season 2 has been diving into his mysterious background, and its finale will show fans the true Lucious at last.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, executive producer Sanaa Hamri said the season finale Wednesday night is going to be “insane.” She also said fans are going to walk away knowing all about Lucious (Terrence Howard).
“The first half of the second season is about setup and getting into the world even deeper,” Hamri dished. “And the second half is, once you get deeper, what happens when you get deeper? The Lucious of it all — that is the storyline. By the time you finish the season finale, you will completely understand the truth and the deep spirit of what Lucious Lyon is. It’s going to be very telling and pretty shocking.”
In episode 17, Lucious’ mother, Leah Walker (Leslie Uggams), wanted to expose her son’s lies to the world. At the conclusion of the episode, she was shown leaving the hospital, immediately surrounded by reporters. The scene ended before viewers could see whether she told the truth about who she is and about the fanciful story told in Lucious’ “Boom Boom Boom Boom” video. If she did it, Lucious’ credibility could be severely damaged.
Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Laura (Jamila Velazquez) are going to get married in the finale, but the wedding ceremony will be crashed by people associated with the pasts of Lucious and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). Could these wedding crashers be the ones who expose Lucious as whom he truly is, and will they choose to do it on the wedding day of his youngest son?
While the truth about Lucious will come out, fans will also get to see what happens in the aftermath of Jamal’s (Jussie Smollett) being shot. The Season 2 finale synopsis reveals he will survive the shooting, but he’s going to choose to step away from his music career until his family ends the fighting between them.
