‘Empire’ Season 3 Spoilers: Episode 7 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘What We May Be’? [VIDEO]
More secrets will be revealed on the next episode of Fox’s “Empire.” In Season 3, episode 7 fans will learn a little more about Cookie’s past, and based on a sneak peek and promo video, she’s not happy her family secrets are coming to light.
According to a synopsis via TV Guide, “old home videos” of Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and her sisters surface forcing her “to face the truth about her father.” The description also teases that Cookie calls on her sister Candace (Vivica A. Fox) to help her plan an “elaborate family dinner.” What’s the occasion? Cookie is finally going to meet Angelo’s (Taye Diggs) mom Diana Dubois (Phylicia Rashad). The synopsis ends by hinting that Andre (Trai Byers) is behind the scenes planning “an unlikely duo.”
In a sneak peek for episode 7, seen above, Charlamagne tha God is on the radio slamming Jamal (Jussie Smollett) for falling off the music scene after getting shot by Freda Gatz (Bre-Z). “Jamal is going through it,” Smollett says in the video. “So now there’s even more to prove. This pushes Jamal over the edge.”
To help him get over his post-traumatic stress disorder, Jamal finds old videos from Cookie’s childhood to use for a song he’s working on. However, Cookie is angry he dug up the personal footage. “It makes him understand Cookie,” Smollett explains.
The sneak peek also shows Cookie’s family dinner completely falling apart. Jamal is high on pain meds, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) is trying to play dad to baby Bella, Andre is nowhere to be seen, and Lucious (Terrence Howard) tells Diana that his wife Anika (Grace Gealey) just gave birth to his son’s baby.
In a short preview of the next episode, above, Cookie gives a little more detail about her childhood secret explaining that her father was her “life” until Lucious came into her life.
Although episode 7 seems like an exciting one, fans will have to wait two weeks to see it. “Empire” is taking another short hiatus and won’t return until Nov. 30.
“Empire” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
