England - Wales: Prediction and Preview for Tuesday's Match at Wembley (September 6, 2011)
England are in prime position to advance to the Euro 2012 after their convincing victory over Bulgaria last week, and as they head into Tuesday's match with Wales at Wembley Stadium.
After six games, England are on top of Group G with 14 points, Montenegro are in second place with 11 points, while Wales are at the bottom with only three points, but England are winless in their last four matches at Wembley, giving underdog Wales some hope against Three Lions.
England manager Fabio Capello will have Scott Parker and Gareth Barry in the lineup despite both players being one yellow card away from being suspended for the Montenegro match on October 7th.
Though Wales have four losses and no draws, their lone win was in their last match. The Dragons defeated Montenegro, 2-1, at Cardiff City Stadium last Friday, on goals by Aaron Ramsey and Steve Morison. Going into the match with much-needed momentum, perhaps the Dragons have the confidence to pull off the upset.
Wales manager Gary Speed will be without suspended Craig Bellamy, meaning more responsibility will fall on the shoulders of Ramsey and star winger Gareth Bale. Capello plans to do what it takes to contain the Tottenham standout on Tuesday.
We need to find a system to stop him and stop people passing to him, said Capello of Bale, according to the BBC.
While England are heavily favoured in the match, Speed knows it will be a tough challenge for Wales, but doesn't expect his squad to falter under pressure.
There's certainly no fear, Speed told Sky Sports News.
History is not on Speed's side. Wales have won only three games in 12 meetings against England and their last victory came in 1984.
England will be without Jack Wilshere, who is expected to be sidelined for at least two more months. Wales midfielder Jack Collison is available after sitting out the Montenegro match due to illness.
PREDICTION: Theo Walcott and Wayne Rooney shined against Bulgaria in Sofia, and there's no reason to believe they won't do it again. Expect Capello's squad to attack early and often, with Rooney taking advantage of his opportunities. The Wales counter attack will need an effective striker, but with Bellamy suspended there won't be many serious tests for goalkeeper Joe Hart.
PREDICTED SCORE: England 2, Wales 0.
