  • Man Utd approached Jadon Sancho's representatives before Real Madrid
  • Man Utd has offered to pay $125m for the English winger
  • Sancho reportedly prefers Man Utd ahead of Real

Real Madrid reportedly are set to compete against Manchester United to sign $125 million-worth winger, Jadon Sancho from Borrusia Dortmund.

It was known earlier that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Co had approached Sancho’s representatives about a $125m move to Old Trafford and were convinced that they were certain to get their man in the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, Man Utd’s arch-rivals in transfer – Real Madrid – have suddenly emerged in the picture and are believed to be trying their best to snatch the Premier League’s target. Considering two of the biggest European clubs are involved in this possible deal, it could turn out to be the biggest transfer deal in the next window.

Sancho, who left Manchester City in 2017 for just $10m, has since become one of the most exciting young stars at present alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. Having scored twice in 11 appearances for England’s national side, he has become an integral part of Gareth Southgate’s side and according to news reports, the 20-year-old winger prefers Man Utd over Real.

It is not the first time when Real and Man Utd are chasing the same player as the two clubs have had major falling outs in the past. One of the most profile one happened in 2008 when Man Utd had reported Real to FIFA over tapping up Cristiano Ronaldo, while he was still with The Red Devils. Then Man Utd boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, slammed the ethics of the Spanish club and in one of his infamous rants about them said, "You don't think we'd get into a contract with that mob, do you? Jesus Christ. I wouldn't sell them a virus.”

However, after less than 12 months Real had the final laugh as they signed Ronaldo in a record fee of $100m.

The most recent transfer fallout between Man Utd and Real happened in 2015 when goalkeeper David de Gea’s move to Madrid collapsed at the 11th hour and that left both the clubs once again blaming each other. While De Gea is still at Old Trafford, several reports have stated that Real continue to pursue the Spaniard to still move to Bernabeu.
