'Euphoria' Star Barbie Ferreira Quits Show Amid Rumors Of Set Drama: 'Teary-Eyed Goodbye'
Barbie Ferreira who played Kat Hernandez in "Euphoria" has announced she will not return to Season 3 of the HBO drama.
Ferreira bid goodbye to the show in an emotional post shared on her Instagram Story feed Wednesday.
"After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye," she said. "I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did, and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today."
"I put all my care and love into her. I hope you guys could feel it," she added.
A fan tweeted a screenshot of the actress' post and wrote, "she's leaving Euphoria THIS CANT BE."
Viewers adored Ferreira's portrayal of a plus-size high school student who placed emphasis on body positivity in "Euphoria" Season 1. However, she had much less screen time in Season 2 where her character focused on her breakup with boyfriend Ethan (played by Austin Abrams).
Alongside the show's massive ratings came reports that claimed Ferreira butted heads with series creator Sam Levinson regarding the filming of her character. The nasty feuds reportedly pushed Ferreira to walk out of the set twice while filming Season 2.
The actress denied the rumors and told Insider, "What's interesting about this season is there are so many more eyes on it that even the news cycle has been so interesting to see. I've seen so many different things and a lot of it is untrue, and some of it's kind of like mundane little things."
"I really think that the fans are really passionate and I do appreciate that because 'Euphoria' has really impacted so many people. Sometimes, things take on a life of their own, and they're not rooted in the truth, but it's okay because I know it's just out of passion and out of curiosity and all that good stuff. And I signed up for it. So, I'll take it. I'll take the good and the bad," she continued.
HBO also denied there was any kind of drama on the set and told Variety that "the well-being of cast and crew on our productions is always a top priority."
