Evan Rachel Wood Says Joining ‘Westworld’ Is ‘One Of The Best Decisions I Ever Made’
“Westworld” star Evan Rachel Wood earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role as the troubled, drug-addicted teenager Tracy Freeland in the teen drama “Thirteen,” and has endeared herself to audiences in the series “American Gothic” and “Once and Again.”
But out of all the roles she has taken on, Wood considers Dolores Abernathy from the HBO series “Westworld” as the best she’s ever done. Dolores is the rancher’s daughter in the Western theme park. At first, it seems like Dolores is naive and innocent, but in the second half of the series, it was revealed that she’s actually the killer named Wyatt.

When asked about her role, Wood told People that taking it on “was much more healing than I thought it was going to be.” The actress confessed that Dolores, who is a victim of sexual abuse herself, actually helped her come to terms with her troubled past and helped her accept her bisexuality.
“It was terrifying at first and very overwhelming,” Wood further explained. “Then it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Honestly, playing this role was a real catalyst in that — and everything that she went through and her journey, and overcoming this trauma, and finding a strength she didn’t know was there. I think going on that journey with her by proxy kind of helped me with my own demons. So it was a real blessing.”
This was not the first time Wood talked about her past. She earlier told the Rolling Stone that Dolores helped her channel her baggage the right way. “Your demons never fully leave. But when you're using them to create something, it almost gives them a purpose. ‘Westworld’? I left so much in that first season and never looked back,” she said.
“Westworld” Season 2 will premiere on HBO in 2018.
