Evelyn Lozada Slams Ex Chad Ochocinco Over Tweet About Losing His Temper
Although Evelyn Lozada divorced Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson in 2012, the “Basketball Wives” star revealed on Thursday that she is upset about a recent comment her ex-husband appeared to make about their marriage.
A little over a month after the two married, Johnson was arrested for head-butting Evelyn during an argument and she filed for divorce a few days later. The two have gone their separate ways since then, but on Wednesday, when a fan on Twitter asked Johnson how he remained positive after his arrest, the athlete appeared to reflect on the consequences that resulted from his domestic violence incident with his now ex-wife.
“I lost my temper for once in life for 3 seconds & it cost me a lifetimes worth of work, I got it all back plus some after getting a 2nd chance & NOTHING will ever get me out of that happy space again,” he tweeted.
Following his post, Evelyn took to Instagram to call out her ex-husband and accused him of being dishonest. In an emotional video, she reflected on the incident that led to the end of their marriage.
“As much as I’m trying to heal from this, it’s messages like this... that are triggers for me... It wasn’t the first time. One of the things that I’m always gonna do is I'm always gonna live in my truth, whether it’s good, whether it’s bad, whether it’s ugly,” she said through tears.
“I’m trying to move on from this, but as a victim, how am I supposed to move on?” Evelyn asked.
The VH1 star revealed that she felt obligated to respond to Chad’s post because she has received backlash from his fans who have accused her of ruining his football career.
“As much as I told myself that I wasn’t going to respond because it’s not the first time that he’s made this comment, I’m just tired. I’m really, really tired. For this man to sit up there and say that he lost his temper for three seconds is infuriating to me,” she said.
Evelyn admitted that she understands she is known for her aggressive personality on her reality show but wants the public to understand she is a different person off-camera.
“When it comes to 'Basketball Wives,' I know that people tend to connect my character on the show with what happened to him. And I understand that to a certain degree... I know that I’m the one that has made us look bad, and I’m sorry.
“I understand that I didn’t always handle things the right way. I’m embarrassed. I am. I’m embarrassed sometimes for my family because this is a forever thing. The person that I am on ‘Basketball Wives,’ and who I am as a mother, and how I’ve been in my personal relationships, whether it be with Carl [Crawford] or Chad, are two totally different things. What happened to me that day and other days I didn’t deserve.”
As of Friday morning, Johnson has been active on social media but had not responded to Evelyn’s post regarding their marriage.
