Ex-WWE Champion Undergoes Heart Surgery, Draws Concern From Personalities
KEY POINTS
- Triple H undergoes a heart procedure
- WWE personalities send prayers and love to Triple H
- Triple H is unlikely to be seen on shows for quite some time
Triple H, known as Paul Levesque in real life, has only appeared in shows sparingly.
He has focused more on helping WWE from behind the scenes to produce slambang shows.
But with news that the former WWE champion underwent a heart procedure following a cardiac event, seeing the 52-year-old on shows may take a while.
"Paul Levesque, a.k.a. Triple H, underwent a successful procedure last week at Yale New Haven Hospital following a cardiac event. The episode was caused by a genetic heart issue and Paul is expected to make a full recovery," an official statement from the WWE read.
Triple H has practically done it all in the WWE. He joined the promotion in 1995 and has won practically all belts possible.
His appearance started to decline in 2019 with his last piece of action being against Randy Orton last January.
That match ended in a no-contest with Orton ending up as the instigator in “The Viper’s” feud with Bray Wyatt.
Since then, Triple H has hardly been seen on shows and pay-per-views. He has kept a low profile, most believing that the “King of Kings” was busy trying to help WWE keep its ratings up.
Regardless, the good news is that he is expected to make full recovery. Regardless, an outpour of well-wishes came out when news about his heart procedure was announced on social media.
Among those who showed concern include Charlotte Flair, Dana Brooke, Mustafa Ali and Lex Luger.
Flair, known to be close to Triple H, reacted to the news with simple emojis that included a heart and hands in prayer.
Brooke, who has not been seen on WWE TV, wished Levesque a speedy recovery.
Ali, on the other hand, recalled a past case when he was still on 205 Live. At that time, he was asking the WWE executive if he could visit his pregnant wife. Triple H instead told him to go back home and be a father.
“When I was on 205 Live, I had to relocate to Orlando. My wife, who was pregnant at the time, stayed in Chicago. About a month before the due date, I asked Hunter if could visit home for 'a week.' Hunter told me 'Don’t visit. Move back home. Be a father.' Hunter is a good man.”
Most are now hoping for the best for Triple H despite reports he will make a full recovery. As far as seeing him again on WWE events or shows, that may take a while.
