Lewis Hamilton received different criticisms over talks of a possible switch to Ferrari and F1 rising star Max Verstappen.

British Formula One superstar has once again reigned supreme in the sport for Mercedes this season. But despite being consistent in his winning ways, Hamilton’s contract with the Silver Arrows is set to expire at the end of the 2020 campaign.

Ahead of the end of his contract, Hamilton has been continuously linked to Ferrari. In early October, Hamilton already teased about finally switching to Ferrari and stated that he knows he “looks good in red.”

"I know I look good in red but it is a very difficult scenario,” Hamilton said about the idea of switching to Ferrari.

“I've been with Mercedes since I was 13. Change is always cool but loyalty is everything, that is why I have this tattoo," Hamilton added.

However, former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone isn’t in favor of Hamilton moving to Ferrari. In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Ecclestone expressed his thoughts about the matter and said that he believes Ferrari would rather work with Red Bull Racing's Verstappen than sign the legendary six-time world champion.

Ecclestone even noted that Hamilton will not have a good working relationship with Ferrari as the Mercedes superstar “doesn’t speak Italian.”

"Ferrari is a strange place to work. Lewis doesn't speak Italian. They might gang up on him—or fall in love with him—but I don't think he would do as good a job for himself or the sport as he is doing with Mercedes," Ecclestone predicted.

"If Ferrari had a choice of Lewis or Max Verstappen I think they would go for Max, for the same reason they like Charles,” Ecclestone added.

Verstappen on the other hand, also criticized Hamilton by saying that it is about time for the younger guys like him to finally take over the sport. According to the Red Bull star, it’s getting “a bit boring” watching Hamilton win and even claimed that the British racer will soon age and lose.

"I think it’s good for the sport to have the young guys now coming up and hopefully taking over very soon. It’s getting a bit boring seeing Lewis win, so we have to try and change that," Verstappen said .

"He's getting older. So for sure it will stop at one point. It’s just going to depend on the team, to be honest. It’s not going to depend on Lewis. If Mercedes keeps building really dominant cars, for sure he’s going to win,” Verstappen continued.
