KEY POINTS
- Max Verstappen and Charles LeClerc could make more history from Lewin Hamilton Win
- Verstappen is arguably the greatest threat for Hamilton this year
- LeClerc could beat Hamilton by reducing his silly errors
Formula One rising stars Max Verstappen and Charles LeClerc could make history again aside from beating Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton.
This season, Hamilton is once again expected to come in strong as he is on the verge of equalling Michael Schumacher’s all-time record. However, Verstappen and LeClerc present a strong case to finally beat the Brit this 2020.
Widely considered as the greatest racer who can be a serious threat to Hamilton’s dominance, Verstappen is the go-to guy of Red Bull-Honda this year.
In 2019, Verstappen proved to everybody why he is being viewed as future world champion. The Dutchman delivered a series of spectacular performances which reflected his strong F1 campaign. Verstappen’s tremendous stint seems timely as Red Bull made serious gains with new power unit suppliers Honda.
Red Bull’s continious progress enabled the team to notably match and even beat Mercedes and Ferrari at some of the later rounds of the season.
From the look of how things could add up this year, Verstappen could be looking for a breakthrough year this 2020 if Red Bull can make a fast start out of the blocks and provide him with race-winning machinery.
Leclerc on the other hand, is the living proof why Ferrari gambled on him by earning all the credentials to be a star of the future. This includes his impressive campaign at the Scuderia.
“The baby-faced assassin” ended 2019 by working his way into contention as the new team leader at Ferrari. After a tremendous 2019, it is expected that if LeClerc can cut out those occasional silly errors, polish his raw speed and evidently, have a highly competitive car with him, he could definitely find himself as a world champion in 2020, GP Today reported.
Given the fact that Verstappen and LeClerc are two of the top candidates to give Hamilton his toughest challenge this season, there’s more about beating the Mercedes star that could put both of them in history.
According to Crash.net, both Leclerc and Verstappen have the opportunity to claim a piece of F1 history provided that one of them can end Mercedes and Hamilton’s dominant run of title success and win the world championship. This year, Verstappen and Leclerc will both not turn 23 until September and October respectively, which simply means they would beat Sebastian Vettel ’s record of being crowned the youngest-ever world champion at the age of 23 years and 134 days in 2010.
