A Formula One team supremo isn’t having any second thoughts on signing Lewis Hamilton.
Over time, Formula One has tremendously evolved as a sport. More and more teams have been innovating, and among them is the title-hungry Aston Martin.
The team’s owner Lawrence Stroll has been aggressively revamping the organization as he aims for world championships.
At present, Stroll has already invested a lot in Aston Martin with a new factory and wind tunnel already in the works.
As for the driver, the Formula One tycoon didn’t shy away from expressing his desire to bring in seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
"Absolutely,” Stroll told GPFans when asked if he would fancy having Hamilton in his team. “You’d have to be crazy not to want to have Lewis drive for you."
Aston Martin is sitting at the sixth spot in the current constructors’ standings. Sebastian Vettel, the team’s star driver, is at no. 10 in the drivers’ rankings.
As it stands, Stroll is well aware that copping a world title is unlikely to come soon.
However, the magnate is positive Aston Martin is already on the verge of becoming at par with the likes of Mercedes and Red Bull in terms of success.
"We’re not really compromising on anything,” the billionaire explained to Formula One’s official website. “Formula 1, like any other business, I don’t think you could realistically plan on winning before four or five years. I think that’s realistically what it takes."
Stroll is no stranger to winning. In fact, he even claimed his first win as a team owner last year in Bahrain.
As he continues to build a Formula One empire, the 62-year-old stressed that he is carrying with him the same winning mentality.
"My track record, pretty much as with every other business I own, is to win,” he pointed out. “In this case, winning in Formula 1 means obviously world championships, and ultimately that's what we are striving for, what I am striving for.”
"Of course, we all know that success in Formula 1 - or any other business for that matter - doesn't come overnight,” he continued. “It takes years to put the right people, the right tools, the right processes in place. But we are building and investing in our team, with the ambition of moving up the grid year by year, and our ultimate ambition is to win world championships."
Like Hamilton, Aston Martin’s Vettel will also head into their home at Silverstone thirsty for a win.
The pair will be looking to end their winless streak at the British Grand Prix happening this weekend.
