Facebook Hack on Jan 28: Anonymous Denies Plans, Says it's Another Media Ploy (Controversial VIDEO)
A YouTube video allegedly posted by Anonymous to announce that its next big target would be Facebook and that the social networking site would be brought down on January 28 is a hoax, the hacktivist group has said.
In the latest twist in the tale, the group said on its Twitter account (@anonops) the rumor of hacking Facebook was a media ploy.
The video released in YouTube contained a male voice which named the mission of the hacker group as Operation Global Blackout Part II.
The narrator of the video said the U.S. government was already warned by the Anonymous about the consequences of the proposed SOPA and PIPA bills. The bill would go against the Internet rights for millions of people, the narrator added.
An online war has begun between Anonymous, the people, and the government of the United States, the narrator stated in the video. Instructions on how to bring down Facebook were also given in the video.
However, the video is fake, the activist group insists.
The hacktivist group, which came to the limelight by hacking Web sites of organizations like CBS, FBI and Warner Brothers, had denied on Monday all rumors about hacking Facebook saying: Again we must say that we will not attack #Facebook! Again the mass media lie.
Keep an eye out to know what happens to Facebook on Jan. 28.
