Back in November, IBTimes reported Facebook Messenger is preparing to launch a new “Instant Games” platform that will let people play games against friends. Tuesday, the social network launched its gaming platform called “Instant Games,” along with 17 different games including iconic titles like Pac-Man . Facebook is calling it a cross-platform” since you’ll be able to play most of the games not only in the chat app, but also in your News Feed. They both work on mobile and the web without having to download standalone apps.

Instant Games launches in 30 countries including the US, with 17 games from developers like Bandai Namco, Konagi, Taito as well as studios like Zynga and King.

How To Play Games on Facebook

The biggest highlight of Instant Games is how quickly you can start playing games. To start, all you need to do is tap the game controller icon in one of your message threads, choose a game from the list, and it will load in a few seconds, play a short game, and your score will get posted in the chat thread.

Here’s a list of games available on Messenger:

Pac-Man

EverWing

Galaga

Space Invaders

Templar 2048

Shuffle Cats Mini

Tack & Field 100M

Hex FRVR

2020 Connect

Brick Pop

ZooKeeper

Bust-A-Move Blitz

Wordslot

The Tribez: Puzzle Rush

Arkanoid

Endless Lake

Words With Friends Frendzy

As of now, the platform is in closed beta, but developers can easily apply to build Instant Games here.

To keep developers interested in building games for its new gaming platform, Facebook will eventually offer developers ways to make money. Currently. the games don’t feature ads or in-game payments Facebook’s head of Messenger David Marcus told TechCrunch, “Over time we’ll find ways for game developers to monetize. That’s our commitment to them in the new year.”

Instant Games is available for newer iOS and Android operating systems.
