Social networking website Facebook on Monday named David Ebersman as its new Chief Financial Officer, a former Genentech Executive and CFO who tripled its revenue.

He will serve Facebook officially in September 2009, in replace of Gideon Yu who recently announced its resignation in March.

We received a lot of interest in the CFO position and had the opportunity to meet with many impressive candidates, said Mark Zuckerberg. We quickly recognized that David was the right person for Facebook.”

Recently, Ebersman was executive vice president and CFO of biotechnology-Genentech after entering the company’s finance organization as a business development analyst, and later served as senior vice president of Product Operations.
