Facebook's Trending News Is Getting A Redesign
Facebook has been working to revamp the social media site to promote reliable news and crack down on unreliable or sensationalized news. Changes to the site on many features have been in the works since founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg penned a letter in February about what he saw for the future of Facebook.
The newest change to the site and app has to do with the way news is presented on the platform. The app already changed the way news articles on trending items appear once the topic has been selected, but now a change is coming to the headlines of stories too.

Back in May, the site announced a change to the way that trending articles are presented once they are selected from the trending page, this redesign can be seen above. These stories can currently be accessed by hitting the search bar at the top of the app, below the recent searches are “Trending” stories. But these stories currently just appear as a word or phrase that has to do with the general news and then a blurb that frequently ends up cut off. Upon choosing a topic users are presented with a series of articles on the topic from a variety of sources with descriptions or summaries below, the introduction of the series of articles was the May addition. The trending news page looks like this for most users, clicking a topic leads to that carousel or series of stories from various news companies.

The new version will be a little different, it’s already rolling out to some users on Android, Tech Crunch reported. The redesigned “Trending News” section will have a photo and a full headline as well as information about how many other outlets are covering the story and a ranking of how popular the story is.
Facebook also said it would be testing a version of trending news that would put the top three trending stories right at the top of user’s newsfeeds. This would make accessing the news easier and users would have the option to remove it from the drop down menu.
The changes are still rolling out so you may not have it yet even if you have an Android. Once it begins rolling out on a more grand scale you should get the update after updating the app. Even the carousel news feature is still rolling out to Facebook’s millions of users across the United States so stay patient.
