A family of four from Washington state was killed after their SUV became submerged in water after crashing into a canal Sunday.

Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison identified the family of four killed in the crash as Gabriel Ochoa, 35; Dioselina Buenrostro, 33; Yesenia “Jessie” Ochoa, 4; and Sandra Ochoa, 9, the Spokane Spokesman-Review reports. Their names were released Monday morning.

The family of four was from Stanwood, Wash., near Everett, in the eastern portion of the state, the Everett Herald reports. The paper said Sandra was a third-grader at Twin City Elementary School and noted that the school had extra grief counselors sent to Twin City on Tuesday after the girl’s death.

Jean Shumate, superintendent of the Stanwood-Camano School District, called the crash a “tragedy.” “My prayers go out to family and friends," Shumate said in a statement.

The family of four was killed when their SUV collided with another vehicle near George, Wash., and struck a guardrail before crashing into an irrigation canal, according to the Spokesman-Review. All of the family members were taken out of the vehicle; the adults were pronounced dead at the scene, while the girls were declared dead at Quincy Valley Medical Center, a sheriff’s office spokesman told the paper.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted on the family members.

The Herald reports Gabriel Ochoa worked at a farm where he milked cows. “He showed up on time, did his job and had a very nice family,” the farm’s owner, Janet Strangeland, told the paper. She added that her grandson attended Twin City with Sandra. “I feel sorry for the extended family.”
