‘Family Guy’ Season 13: When And Where To Watch ‘The Simpsons Guy’ Crossover Episode [PHOTOS & VIDEOS]
Tonight is the night for animated comedy lovers. “Family Guy” and “The Simpsons” have shared Sunday nights on Fox’s “Animation Domination” for years – but on Sunday, Sept. 28, the two worlds will collide for “The Simpsons Guy” crossover episode.
The fun will begin at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox with the Season 26 premiere of “The Simpsons.” The episode, titled “Clown in the Dumps,” won’t be all laughs for longtime fans though – instead, the premiere is said to be an emotional one, as a “beloved” character will be killed off.
“I’ve done everything I can to temper any disappointment by saying that, although the press is claiming this is an ‘iconic’ character, we never said that,” executive producer Al Jean dished to TV Line. “We just said it’s a ‘beloved’ character. I think it may have become overhyped, though I’ve never heard the term ‘underhyped,’ before. Either way, it’s an emotional story, and it’s one we’re really proud of.”
“Clown in the Dumps,” which features guest stars David Hyde Pierce, Sarah Silverman and Jeff Ross, will find Krusty retiring after becoming offended by a comedy cable channel roast of him. Meanwhile, Lisa will try to “protect Homer from getting hurt” by lying.
The animated comedy will take a break at 8:30 p.m. EDT for the Season 2 premiere of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” But at 9 p.m. EDT the highly anticipated hour-long “Family Guy” and “The Simpsons” crossover will occur on Fox.
The crossover, which is also “Family Guy’s” Season 13 premiere, is titled “The Simpsons Guy.” The episode will find the Griffins meeting the Simpsons when the Quahog bunch ends up in Springfield. According to the synopsis, Homer Simpson will welcome the Griffin family – aka his new “’albino’ friends” – “with open arms.” The families will split up, with Stewie and Bart causing trouble with their slingshots and mind control devices; and Meg learning about the saxophone from Lisa. Meanwhile, Peter and Homer will battle it out over the “best beer in town – Pawtucket vs. Duff.”
