Famous Saudi YouTuber On Trial For Growing Drugs At His Home

An 18-year-old YouTuber from Saudi Arabia has been accused of planting and possessing several marijuana plants inside his apartment, according to court records.
The YouTube star, whose identity has been withheld, was arrested in February in his apartment in Dubai along with three other suspects, Gulf News reported. The oultet indicated that they had consumed Hashish when they were taken into custody.
The media outlet also reported that the Anti-Narcotics Department of Dubai Police was told about the defendant who was arrested along with two young males and a minor female.
The law enforcement authorities also revealed that the YouTuber, who has millions of subscribers on the video-sharing platform, had almost 82 grams of Hashish inside his apartment.
“We searched the apartment and found tobacco mixed with hashish weighing 8.29 grams. We found a plastic bag inside the freezer containing about 82 grams of Hashish,” Gulf News quoted the police, as saying.
Meanwhile, the official records also showed that the defendant planted three marijuana plants in his residence.
“Officers found in the living room, a device for flowering three [marijuana] plants. He admitted that he had found the seeds and planted them,” the police said.
The publication cited official records in revealing that the plants were 60 cm tall and weighed more than 400 grams.
On the other hand, one of the two male youngsters who was arrested from the scene claimed that he bought the marijuana seeds from a party that he attended in Dubai and kept them in the apartment of the YouTuber.
The YouTuber has been charged with planting and possessing three marijuana plants, supplying drugs to a minor female, and consuming drugs.
The next hearing in the case will take place on Sept. 13.
The news comes a few weeks after a Russian YouTuber named Andrei Pyzh was taken into custody and charged with obtaining state secrets. If found guilty of those charges, he is facing a sentence of up to eight years in prison.
Meanwhile, a similar kind of case happened in India when Heer Khan, a YouTuber, was arrested for making inappropriate comments against Hindu deities. The 28-year-old has been booked under Sections 153A/505 IPC and 66 of IT Act.
