Days away from its U.S. opening, 10 percent of Star Trek fans planning to see the movie say in a survey that they plan to show up to theaters in costume, online ticket seller Fandango.com said on Tuesday.

Also, 67 percent of Fandango users expecting to see the film are men, the company said, based on its survey of nearly 4,000 movie goers.

Star Trek and its space-traveling crew appears to be hurtling toward anticipated blockbuster figures when it debuts across the United States this week. It already accounts for 75 percent of ticket sales at Fandango.

The firm also said the film from director J.J. Abrams has already sold out dozens of screenings in the United States.

Star Trek opens on Thursday night and is the 11th film in the franchise. It features the original characters, including Captain Kirk and Spock, and traces their youthful beginnings.

The part of Captain Kirk was originally played by William Shatner, starting in 1966 with a TV series and extending to several films. Shatner is not in the latest movie (Kirk is played by 28-year-old Chris Pine), but 64 percent of those in the Fandango survey said they were unconcerned about that.

Forty-eight percent said they are a fan of Abrams. The director's previous films include the 2006 Mission: Impossible III,, and he is an executive producer of TV series Lost.
